batatuba is a audiovisual instalation, I have created for the exhibition Intermedia Studio (Brno University of Fine Arts) in Gallery12 in Zlín. I created this work during the four days I spent in the gallery in the preparation and installation of the exhibition HATA PATA.
I started to browse the history of Zlin, which is unique in the context of Central Europe. strongly recommend to explore. development of the city is associated with the Bata family. the most progressive was Jan Antonin Bata, who after the war accused of collaborating with the Nazis and deported from the Republic, after the family property was nationalized. as a collaborator was admitted to the United States and settled in Brazil, where he founded four cities (even before it established a number of other cities in countries around the world).
history of the city I consulted with young people in town and I found that they do not know too much information. City Batatuba knew only one of the respondents. with reference at that fact I added to the installation a questionnaire, which I found at Internet.

the street witch we follow in video lead through the city Batatuba, witch J. A. Bata found in Brasil.
road name is named after J. A. Bata.
at the street named J. A. Bata is a Gallery12 in Zlin.

My biggest goal was to find someone at the internet from the city batatuba and connect with him during the opening. I started looking for skype name, gsm, whatever. I found an e-mail of somebody from batatuba and asked him for skype contact, or audio message in any quality. during the opening a friend sent me a number at president of "czech society in batatuba" in Brazil (who is a friend of his mother (!)) and next morning I found a voice message in the mail.

sound batatuba:
J. A. Bata speech in one channel.
distorted speech in channel two.
sound chamada:
is that sound message i get from batatuba
