Monika Rygálová
Práce/Works

In their exhibition „semiotics for the afterlife“ Monika Rygálová and Yannick Harter deal with the impermanence of sociocultural latitude as a epiphenomenon of a changing housing market. The end of the Riga creative hive D27 marks the starting point for their two site specific installations. On the trajectory of cultism, superstition, strange grave rituals and hype the two artists create a niche between two worlds. A disruption of natural or human made, physical or virtual temporalities. „Digital graveyard“ by Monika Rygalova is a transfer of image, memory, and thought from a physical realm to the digital hereafter. Patterns of QR-Code lead you to a digital retention of artifacts found around D27, spinning endlessly in the ether of the web. „Presurerction“ is a sculptural installation by Yannick Harter. Inanimate objects, in a room bathed in red light, brought together through gestures of healing and the use of wicked symbols show traces of a failed attempt to revive something that was not dead yet. With their exhibition Monika Rygálová and Yannick Harter are looking into a multitude of possible futures for the D27.
