Ateliér intermédií z Fakulty výtvarných umění VUT v Brně v roce 2017 uskutečnil cestu do rozestavěné termosolární elektrárny Ashalim, která s pomocí 50000 zrcadel koncentruje sluneční paprsky na boiler umístěný na 250 metrů vysoké věži, jež se tyčí uprostřed negevské pouště v Izraeli. Stovky megawatt čisté energie je produkováno pomocí inteligentních otočných zrcadel, která ohřívají nejčernější nádobu na 350 stupňů celsia. Hitech elektrárna se neobejde bez manuální práce zaměstnanců, kteří musí znovu a znovu stírat pouštní prach z 600000 m2 zrcadel. Pracují ve vedrech okolo 40 stupňů. Jsou to hrdinové sysifovsko-narcistní práce – v odrazu pozorují svoje potící se tváře. Studenti a pedagogové ateliéru po cestě na území Izraele a Palestiny hrají hru: napřed každý zvlášť a postupně ve stále větších skupinkách shlukují slova a videa, agregují semantické „paprsky“ k jednomu, centrálnímu: na poušti dospějí všichni dohromady ke slovu, které homeopaticky zahrnuje všechna předešlá. Je to slovo „rtěnka“.

The Last Word
The Intermedia Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno organised a trip in 2017 to the Ashalim solar thermal power station, then still under construction. Using 50,000 mirrors, it concentrates the sun’s rays onto a boiler installed on a 250 metre tower erected in the middle of the Negev desert in Israel. 250 megawatts of pure energy is produced by employing smart adjustable mirrors heating up a black vessel to 350 degrees Celsius. This hi-tech power station cannot operate without manual work done by employees who, working in temperatures of around 40°, must again and again wipe the desert dust from 600,000 m2 of mirrors. They are the heroes of the Sisyphus-like narcissistic effort – watching their faces covered in sweat in the mirrors’ reflection. While travelling across Israel and Palestine, students and teachers from the studio played a game – initially each on his/her own and gradually in ever larger groups they clustered words and videos, aggregating the semantic “rays” to a single one in the desert until they all together reached the word which “homeopathically” incorporated all the previous ones. The word is “lipstick”.
